Summary
Tycho’s eyes drift from your face down to the backs of your cards. You wonder, briefly, if the intense stare he’s giving them is a futile attempt to utilize some kind of gamer X-ray vision he’s willing himself to have in hopes that he won’t have to lose his treasured timepiece. He swallows; blinks slowly as his line of sight lazes slightly downward to your splayed fingers against the patterned paper backing of the deck, then zips back up towards your face. It’s only then that he realizes he’s been caught.
“You, uh…” His face is pink now, though you aren’t sure why. Both of you know his tells aren’t exactly subtle. “You’ve got really nice hands.”
(Tycho offers you a marginally better win-loss record in exchange for a bit of indulging in a long-time fantasy.)

Summary
Tycho’s fingers thread through his hair, clenching and clawing at his scalp. The headaches have gotten worse now, and he’s not sure whether the medication his doctor prescribed is helping or hurting the whole affair. They’d tried everything– light therapy, regular therapy, medication and tests upon medication and tests –but no diagnosis seemed to confirm what was causing these migraines.
And the dreams, well… the dreams were a different matter entirely.
“You okay, Tycho?” He hears his roommate behind him, but when he turns to him, he can hardly recognize him. Things aren’t making sense. Did he look like this before? He’s not sure if he can trust what he sees.
“Yeah, no, it’s–” He groans, eyes scrunching shut. Behind them, a vision of crystalline structures flashes. Then, the smiling face of someone familiar but unreachable. “Can you get me an ice pack, Lightbringer?”
The title leaves his lips like muscle memory, and once it touches the air, something in the world feels like it’s shifted.
Under the tension, a hastily stitched seam of the universe snaps, and with it, the truth unravels wide open, raw and painful.

Summary
“Tycho, what the fuck are you–”
Gabe stops; blinks slowly. He’s not exactly sure what he’s supposed to make of what he sees. In front of him is… well, it certainly looks like him, but there’s no way it could be. He’s not that tall, for one, and he’s certainly not that, to use a Brahe-certified turn of phrase, swarthy.
The man– Not-Gabe, he elects to call him –opens his mouth to speak, but no words leave him. In the space, lips slightly parted, Gabe recognizes the familiar silhouette of his crowded teeth. The other man's still got the impacted canine teeth that he himself managed to fend off via modern dentistry.
Maybe-Gabe, he corrects, looks at him; looks at Tycho. In that stare, Gabe recognizes something else familiar, and it twists in his gut, hot and shameful.
The fact that this is the nail in the coffin, the real confirmation of what– or who, rather –he’s looking at, does the opposite of help.
(“What if Gabriel didn’t end up in Underhell after the fall of New Arcadia?”, or, “Is it gay to share your best friend with a version of yourself that is significantly hotter and weirder than you?”)

Luckily, he's not instantly killed on the spot, nor is he turned into some horrible eldritch beast, but its other effects may be a worse (or significantly more embarrassing) fate...
Well, at least Gabriel doesn't seem to mind.

Summary
By the time he enters the Venture Technologies building, he feels like his body is buzzing, he’s so cold. Snow gathers on his eyelashes, hopping from one to the next with the chattering of his teeth as he barely manages to gather the strength to nudge the glass door shut behind him. He feels his heart rate skyrocket, his pulse almost painful in his throat, and slowly, his brain follows, floating to the top of his skull until it presses at his cranium, his thoughts numbing before he can even process them.
The security guard– Vatred, if the tattooed blue V emblazoned across his face is any indication of the change in name –looks up from a book of sudoku, comically small in his large gloved hands, and before he can open his mouth to ask what a Guild operative could possibly need in weather like this, Frightcrawler drops.

Their eyes flicker over, pausing as Zaid inhales deep. His fists clench and unclench the air at his sides. It’s a rhythmic pattern: a shaky, but consistent beat, and they wonder just how often he’s had to ground himself like this for it to become an unconscious habit.
“--that you might end up like him?”
The end of the sentence comes out of their mouth, quieter now, before their brain can stop it. When they glance up to meet his eyes, deep brown and full of an emotion they understand but can’t quite describe, his voice warbles as tears gather against his eyelashes.
“I– fuck, yes, Tristan, I’m terrified.” He sniffs, the sound sharp in the slowly cooling night air. “I don’t even know who I am anymore.”

Summary
Marion is a recent college graduate who grew up in a small town in the most rural parts of Florida.
