Shane's gained weight after retirement. He likes it.
At the pressure of Ilya’s hand, Shane dutifully steps, albeit a touch unsteady, over the threshold and proceeds to undo his belt when the front door closes behind him, fumbling for the buckle with clumsy hands. When it’s undone, Shane breathes in deeper—though still rather shallow—than he has since starting on his dessert. Ilya laughs heartily and gives Shane’s stomach a few pats.
“Ate too much,” he says, “didn’t you?”
“You shouldn’t have—” Shane begins, right before he’s interrupted by a hiccup. “Shouldn’t have let me eat half of your portion.”
“But you wanted it so badly,” Ilya teases. “You looked like you would have divorced me if I did not give you my pasta. And my bread. And my ice cream…”
