Summary
Recovery isn’t linear.
It’s something Zuko tries to remind himself of on his tough days, and even on his good ones.
Still, even though there are deep dips and steep spikes, the line is overall positively sloped, and that has to count for something.
OR:
Zuko has no idea what love feels like.
He’s worried that he can’t identify it.
Because he thinks he’s in love with Katara, and he has no idea how to give something he never received.
(Sequel of a sorts to my Before I Disappear Fic, read that first!!)

Summary
By the end of the weekend, Zuko is on his third attempt at something that should really only need one.
A phone call drags him out of the lowest point of his life-- a call from his bestfriend, Sokka, who reaches out to Zuko to recruit his help in protecting his little sister from a psychotic ex.
Zuko spends a weekend with Katara, and they bond over music and life, and find that everyone just needs a shoulder to cry on to make things alright.
Based on the short film 'Curfew', and movie adaptation 'Before I Disappear.'

Summary
Katara has known fire all her life.
The Southern Water Tribe has always used it to get warm and to light the long winters, so Katara used to associate fire to family and to the sweet pleasure of listening to traditional tales.
As time passes, fire isn’t only something that provides warmth and light, but also something that burns and destroys.
Her Tribe is visited by fire-wielding men time and time again, and they bring destruction and death every time they visit.(In their journey all around the world, fire follows them, and it seems alive.)

Summary
Katara unstopped the bottle with her thumb. The spirit water answered her call so eagerly. It wanted to heal Zuko, it knew this was right.
She tried to coat her hand with it, but the water coalesced into a shimmering disk beneath her fingertips. Brilliant, pure, glimmering. She pressed it against Zuko’s cheek, glowing bright before it disappeared into his skin. A moment; another.
And the scar remained.
~ ~ ~
Katara could have brought Aang back, but she’d poured her only miracle into an unforgiving scar. Lost forever, the way the world would be now.

Summary
When the next letter arrived, Zuko let it sit on his desk for a whole day before opening it, as if somehow Sokka would sense, a continent away, that he was still pretty pissed about Sokka trying to rope Iroh into this whole festival visit insanity. Finally, his point proven to literally no one except himself, Zuko waited until after a long bending practice, then a full bath, before he casually picked up the letter and broke the seal.
**
OR:
Zuko has been Fire Lord for six years when Sokka starts trying to convince him to attend the Spring Gift festival at Wolf Cove, and Sokka isn’t taking no for an answer.
