Summary
“I’m not a fucking Uber driver, Trinity,” is the first thing she hears when she picks up. Brilliant. So it’s a Trinity kind of night, then.
“Great.” She takes another draw of her vape, forcing herself to focus on the overwhelming sweetness of sour watermelon rather than the thinly-veiled needle of irritation that pulses through Yolanda’s words. “So, you’re not gonna charge me fifty bucks for a two mile drive, then?”
A sigh. If she closes her eyes, she can picture her expression: brow pinched, jaw clenched, neck vein activated. She’s probably rubbing at the bridge of her nose right now, exasperated as she always seems to be when Trinity’s involved these days.

Summary
Trinity wants many things, quite desperately. She wants to do another fasciotomy, on her own this time, and also more chest tubes, and maybe a thoracotomy if she’s lucky. She wants to be good at her job, wants to prove that she belongs, wants to belong. She wants Robby’s approval, wants to never see Langdon again, and above all else she wants Garcia to respect her. She wants Garcia to want her as much as she wants Garcia.
I am reduced, she thinks, to a thing that wants Garcia.

Summary
Memory can be funny like that. Trinity looks at her and remembers the Yolanda from months ago, sat across from her with a drink in hand, their knees brushing every time one of them leaned in to say something. The dim lighting of the bar had softened her eyes, painting her face into an expression that could almost be mistaken for the same longing that echoed inside Trinity’s chest.
A lot can change in ten months. Not all of it for the better.
Or: It happens in increments, like all the worst things do.

“Sure.” His eyes flick over her with something similar to worry. “Are you sick? There’s a bug going around the ED right now so if you caught something that’d make sense.”
“I don’t get sick,” Trinity scoffs.

Five times Trinity refuses to accept help while she’s sick during a shift, and one time she does.

Summary
Everything after that happens too fast to think and slow enough that Trinity will replay it later in punishing detail, her brain an endless loop of cause and effect. The patient wrenches his other wrist free, the restraints tied improperly at its connection point to the bed—fucking newbies. He seizes the opportunity immediately. Trinity would notate that point on her neuro exam (patient alert) if she weren't more focused on Yolanda at her side, in optimal reaching distance.
The angle isn't great. Yolanda is bent over him and she sees movement in her periphery a fraction too late, eye widening as Trinity calls, "Watch out!"
