Summary
Loki’s not one to have beliefs set in stone, but he’s at least semi aware that shy teammates don’t take over a month to warm up to their coworker. At the same time, he’s well aware that Rin Itoshi isn’t shy at all. Wary, maybe, but not shy. So Loki weaves around him, tying a gentle string in the gaps in his armor, prying open what was once sealed off. Julian Loki may be known for his speed, but he knows better than anyone that patience pays off.
TLDR: Two years after NEL, an after game banquet procs a chemical reaction between two star strikers off-field

“You're not unbearable to be around,” Loki walks towards the water bottles, making note of how Rin sticks close behind him, not going ahead until the last second to not seem to eager– but Rin’s had a dehydration problem for a while now, and there’s really no way to subtly chug an entire water bottle, “As much as you try to be.”
Loki can hear the gears turning in Rin’s head as the other tries to come up with a clever rebuttal. In the end, all he gets is, “Lukewarm.”
It’s pretty much a sign that against all odds, he’s managed to champion this discussion. Loki’s been told time upon time that he can get too competitive, but he can’t help it. He’s human, he wants to win. Unfortunately, Loki doesn’t perceive discussions as something to be won, so there's no dopamine from this one. The point of talking is communication anyways, but Loki feels like he’s pushing conversation with his wall whenever he opens his mouth in Rin’s vicinity.
Five conversations that could be approved upon, one that goes quite well. In that order. Conversations all evaluated by Julian Loki.

“So, what do you wanna share?” Luna paces around his house, which is less pace-size and more so an entire hero’s journey, “is it gossip?” He also wants to show his friends his newly renovated kitchen.
Pablo turns to Loki, pursing his lips in a slight pout, while also moving his mouth slightly to the side. Luna gets hit with so much cuteness aggression that he ends up baring his teeth to the screen for a bit, “You say it.”
“Luna,” And Loki, Loki looks abashed? “I’ve been meaning to tell you this for a while–”
Luna shrieks.
“What was that?”
Luna peers at the screen, then ducks out of it, hiding. It helps that he’s in the kitchen, “You’re not confessing, are you?”
“To you?” Loki makes what has to be one of the most horrified expressions to ever go down in human history, “Most certainly not– and I have a boyfriend.”
If the scream Luna had let out moments ago was shrill, the next noise that left his lips should have shattered glass. Thankfully, it didn’t, “You have a what now?”
“Calm it, soprano,” Pablo says through his teeth, “we aren’t all prostitutes or puritans.”

The Internet is also dead certain that Reo is in a gay situationship. The Internet, mostly, feels for him.
“I’m so sorry,” says Anri. “We never expected him to be so… sincere.”
Nagi gets eliminated, haunts the narrative, and makes a comeback. Reo tries his best to deal, but it’s all made much more difficult by the fact that everyone and their mother saw him cry on live TV.

“It’s me,” says Shidou, “I’m here for my shit,” and then, because Rin doesn’t answer, “you told me to come?”
Rin still doesn’t deign to respond, but he buzzes him up. Shidou is seething. This, he promises himself, is the last goddamn straw. He’s a human being, for god’s sake, not Itoshi Rin’s chew toy. He is not letting him and his crazy demon magic anywhere near his penis. Today, he chooses dignity.
Shidou didn't exactly plan to start sleeping with Rin. He also didn't plan to catch feelings, but hey, here he is anyway. It sort of starts with a toothbrush.
