Abstergo doesn’t notice that part. What they DO notice is that Daniel Cross is suddenly CALM. Functional. SMILING.
Naturally, upper management is intrigued—and all signs point to the new accounting intern: Francisco Randez (aka Desmond Miles).
He’s promising, they think. Templar material, even.
(Daniel has Opinions about that—loud, violent, and also weirdly flustered ones.)
In which Desmond gets booted from the Bad Weather bar one year before the solar flare hits, accidentally becomes a Templar, and Daniel decides that Desmond is HIS intern now and that unsanctioned murder is perfectly reasonable so long as no one touches him.

One of the last things he remembered before his surroundings changed from one blink to another, was staring at one of the many monitors in front of his face while keeping up with Timothy’s confrontation with an alien magician, and murmuring in the microphone for his brother to hear how, if Damian was the one in his brother’s place, the enemy would have surrendered already. He, too, had the vague memory of Timothy saying something along the lines of wishing him to be quiet, and then he blinked in another dimension, with the batcomputer shut off just like everything else.

All is, kind of, good until someone recognize him as being Jaskier, the White Wolf’s bard from before the warlord rises and decides to bait Geralt into a peace treaty using him. The bard is absolutely sure it is not going to work because Geralt doesn’t care, the mind behind the plot is sure it is going to work and it does work. It works really - really - well. When he finally stopped to look back, he realised had no idea where he was.
Everything after that is foggy, but somebody probably found him and guided him back or something, because he’s still alive today, safe and sound.

“No.” Geralt takes a drink desperately and finds he is almost at the bottom of his tankard. He contemplates whether it’s worth the coin for another. Probably not.
