He would of course never ever forget the day Huan was born. The way their mother pressed the warm, squirming bundle into his arms. Her gentle yet tired voice as she guided the nervous child into properly holding the infant. How Huan’s squirming subsided as he cradled him in his arms.
“I know how life is for children born and raised in Daguanyuan…but it doesn’t have to be that way right? You’ll be a good, loving big brother…right?”
He didn’t have to question the vagueness in her words. For now, he could hold Huan like the precious being that he was. Years later, they could very well be pointing sharpened daggers at each other's throats.
