Summary
Jing Yuan, the 'Dozing General', the Lion of Loufu, one of seven Arbiter-Generals that defend the Xianzhou Alliance with life and limb.
Everyone praised him for his service, or scorned him for his decisions.
But glories came and went, as did opinions and connections and all the other messy bits of life.
Such was the way of the Xianzhou, the curse of Long-Life species.
It didn't mean it made being left behind any easier to bare.
Or time less heavy to carry on one's long tired shoulders.
And Aeons, was he tired.
So very tired.
But who would have thought stumbling upon a ray of sunshine, a seed blooming in the heart of a desolate battlefield, the weary lion might actually find something worth living for.
If only to keep the light ever burning.

“So, like,” Stelle says as they start hiking to the next checkpoint. He’s getting a bad feeling about this. “Are you Bailu’s dad?”
Dan Heng pulls himself out of the snow drift he fell into, coughing and sputtering. Dusting snow off of his coat, he glares at the hysterically laughing Stelle. “Of course not! Stop being ridiculous.”
“Are you sure? Or is this another ‘Dan Feng is her dad and I’m not him’ situation?” Stelle pulls herself together, but just barely. “You were talking about all that stuff about the old Imbibitor Lunae and his sin and breaking the cycle of reincarnation and stuff so I kind of figured…”
“You figured wrong.” Dan Heng snaps. “Besides, Vidyadhara reincarnate. We can’t bear children.”
“Believe me, I’ve heard plenty about your infertility,” Stelle rolls her eyes. What does she mean by that? “But you’re still Bailu’s dad, I think.”
Bailu stows away on the Astral Express. They take the long way back to the Luofu.
