“I don't require company, Todd,” Damian says stiffly, from where he’s crouched on the lip of the hospital roof. His arms are crossed, resting on his knees; his whole body is a coil of anger. He’s still wearing the costume. There’s blood on his cape, his gauntlets, a splash of it across one shoulder. In the light drifting up from the street below, it looks black.
Eleven floors below them, Dick Grayson is hooked up to three IVs, a respirator, and a heart rate monitor whose steady beep fails to be reassuring. The official story is that he’d been hit by a bus. The unofficial story is that Talia al Ghul had been in town, and Nightwing had gotten in between her and her son.

“You should have known.”
“Oh, I’m sorry. My latent psychic abilities haven’t kicked in yet,” Dick said. Then, as if the possibility was just occurring to him: “You told someone you were coming, right?”
Tim made a noise, vague enough for Dick to interpret however he wanted.
“Hey,” the next tug on the blanket was sharper, as was Dick’s voice. When he got the blanket down enough to see Tim’s face, he raised an eyebrow, repeating, “You told someone you were coming, right?”
Or: Tim and Bruce have a fight. Tim does the only logical thing and goes to Dick about it.

She’d fed him (or at least, she’d made a valiant effort), given him syrup for the cough (threats of bodily harm had once again been involved), and put a damp cloth over his forehead to help with the fever. Now she could only watch over him, and hope he'd have the good sense to sleep soon.
“Anyone could stab me,” he complained, his voice rough from coughing. “I’d die in bed, sweaty, with my nose running. Despicable.”
“I’m offended,” Inej replied calmly, “that you think this imaginary assassin could manage to touch you while I’m here.”
Kaz pulled down his arm.
The expression he revealed was complicated to decipher. There was a hint of mirth, almost a touched smile on his lip. But his eyes were pained.
“I don’t think that,” he said, quietly.
Kaz falls ill. Inej attempts to take care of him.
