Dream of the Endless checks into The New Inn as a guest. Hob wasn’t aware but, apparently, symbols and sympathies have power and rebuilding a place of reunion and remembrance counts as a form of alliance. All that to say, The New Inn is a place of protection to denizens of the Dreaming. Even its king. IE: Dream takes an extended break in the Waking World. Hob frantically pretends his centuries-deep crush is something he can keep ignoring when circumstance calls him to defend his wayfaring friend and vice versa.

Summary
Was it like this for humans all the time? Dream wondered. This heavy anticipation in his chest, the bodily attention verging on pain? He hadn’t known it was possible to be so intently aware of another person, but there it was, Hob Hob Hob in the pounding heart he didn’t need, a compulsion that wasn’t intellectual or even particularly romantic, but rather a strained desperation that could only be soothed by touch.
Dream's senses are overwhelming after a century enclosed in glass.
