Claude. Claude was here.Ingrid’s boyfriend, Claude, who Sylvain hadn’t known was coming with her to the gala, let alone to Faerghus. Claude, who Sylvain had only seen in SocMed updates and in the background of blurry video calls, but now stood before him IRL.
Claude, who in real life (Sylvain could not help but notice) was in possession of eyes like molten gold, twined by poison ivy green; cherry-on-topped by a Sothis-sculpted arse (because life was unfair); and with lips of limerence that were now kissing Ingrid (because life was very specifically unfair to Sylvain).
Maybe his six-year old self shouldn’t have been so quick to spurn the Goddess. Girl could hold a grudge.
Once upon a time, Sylvain and Ingrid were in love. But then reality hit them like the second coming of Sothis.

The subject of engagement is one she has never enjoyed talking about. It came up a few times when she and Sylvain were together, but it always seemed to bring up bad things too. Between Sylvain’s judgemental father and Ingrid’s disapproving family, the noble side of an engagement seemed entirely unappealing. And, on the personal front, Ingrid found herself worried about a plethora of things.
So, suffice to say, Ingrid and Sylvain were never engaged. And now they’re not even together.
—Ingrid and Sylvain broke up six months ago. They just...never told anyone.
