Summary
On nights when June and Nick were in the kitchen laughing and talking, with Moira or Rita or Luke — or sometimes all three at once — playing cards and drinking, Daisy would be alone in the TV room with a tennis ball in her hand and her eyes fixed on the street, looking for the tall boy who walked as if he were carrying an anchor instead of his thick, worn-out Bible.
Daisy falls in love with the boy from the church down the street.

Summary
In Gilead, every choice is already contaminated. Daisy learns this too late, standing in white beside a man she should hate, with Becka’s death still fresh in the walls, Mayday secrets under her tongue, and desire like contraband beneath her ribs.
(aporia - a state of doubt, contradiction, no clear way out.)

Summary
She thinks about Garth in circles, always returning to the same unanswered questions only to find they’ve changed shape in her absence. Every conclusion Daisy reaches about Garth feels incomplete, abandoned halfway through. The longer she knows him, the more Daisy realizes she is not arriving at answers so much as assembling them. Filling in what Garth does not say, assigning meaning to the spaces he leaves behind, deciding, almost without meaning to, what kind of man it’s possible for him to be.
Daisy is left gathering pieces, still hoping that if she arranges them carefully enough, they will eventually fit together.
After all, the best lies in Gilead, Daisy has learned, are the ones people create for themselves.
------
Daisy and Garth are selected to marry and this is what happens after.
