Rio’s heart stuttered at the woman’s voice. Once again, her body betraying her. She looked up to see that her little performance of ignoring was wasted. The woman was pointedly looking out the window, her thick mane of dark curls, obscuring part of her face.
Rio straightened her posture. “And I think it’s stupid to get in the car with Lady Death, knowing this isn’t neutral ground,” she said smoothly, pointedly shifting her hand to rest behind her.
