Summary
Blanc is a non-believer in every sense of the word. The only thing he’d ever truly believed was that people were capable of awe-inspiring good and great evil. He usually sees at least one of those on his cases. He believes in himself, his own power to do good with his life. He never expects to find that belief reflected in a clergyman, a Catholic priest of all people. By all accounts, he shouldn’t be moved by the doe-eyed young father preaching a love that Blanc had never encountered in a church. He is anyway.
