With the Greeks, resurrection is left to the kids, where the gods can turn a blind eye, or they when involve the dearly departed becoming gods, however minor, themselves.

The Egyptian Gods are a whole other mess for that matter, barging into whole other pantheons (they’re very good at making friends), and avoiding the whole matter of death entirely. (Most of the time, at least)

However, the Norse prefer to be slightly more involved in post mortem affairs, especially when there’s a possibility for a bit of friendly Duels-to-the-Death (Now on Tuesdays!).

    Summary

“When I retire, I’ll have twenty acres of land in my own name and a pension. Gods be good, I can go through life without knowing how to please a man.”
“But that attitude severely limits your options, even in Attolia. Men are necessary for some things.”
    “Such as?”
I was flabbergasted at her deliberate obtuseness, and I stammered as I said, “Love. Sex. Children.”
The Attolian stared at me for a moment before bursting into laughter. I flushed, and she bit her lip against all but a few errant giggles.
“Children, I’ll grant you. But what on earth makes you think men are necessary for love and sex?”
“Definition,” I said. Her amusement confused me, too, and the word came out cold.

    Summary

A single rumor could move mountains, or topple thrones. Sejanus had been very good at this game, but Hilarion knew better than to think it one of his own strengths. Then again, political acuity had gotten Sejanus imprisoned, his brother exiled, and his house doomed to crumble away with no son to inherit it, and Hilarion, for all his faults, would not make the same mistake twice.

But he could not imagine standing before their cranky, sleep-rumpled king and telling Attolis that he ought to be careful of a mere rumor.

Kamet is personally obsessed that when he called his local used bookstore to ask when they opened, the owner said "Usually it's eleven, but I'm in the middle of a lover's quarrel so today it's more like twelve."

Or: AITA for rejecting my partner's invitation to go camping?
