Igeyorhm pulls up a nearby stool to the side of Deudalaphon's work area, sweeping the remaining crystal shavings off the table. Without pen and parchment, Igeyorhm resorts to a mild incantation of frost, the tip of a finger sketching a quick, rough draft of the sigil she has a mind to suspend within the foci itself.
"Oh," says Deudalaphon, "Oh. Of course."
"Then you understand?"
"Yes, yes. Something simple. Practical. I believe I fashioned Hythlodaeus something similar, once upon a time. Clipped to a belt, you mentioned? Will you be in to pick up your order?"
Igeyorhm smiles. "Please. Have it delivered directly, if you would."

Summary
The scars on Jiaoqiu’s back are just as wide and deep. It looks like flesh has been carved out of him. Debriding the wounds was necessary, of course, to rid them of the necrosis, but it leaves behind a sobering sight.
Moze finds himself lingering a little longer. It’s not an unpleasant task. He wasn’t able to save Jiaoqiu from the borisin, but he can do this, at least. And Jiaoqiu’s shoulders have lost some tension since he started. The sight may be sobering, but Moze feels peaceful, too. There’s no danger here. Just a simple task that he’s good at.
He wonders what it would feel like if it was just his hands on Jiaoqiu instead of the towel.
(Back on the Yaoqing, Jiaoqiu gets put on leave and Moze is assigned to watch him. He end up helping Jiaoqiu with some things. He ends up realizing some things, too.)

Neuvillette finishes his tea and sets it aside. “Back to the matter at hand. If it isn’t any trouble, I had hoped I might try your buns.”
Wriothesley chokes on his tea, staring at Neuvillette over the rim of it.
Neuvillette looks back at him, still utterly composed, as if they’re not talking about Wriothesley’s ass.
Because they’re not, Wriothesley reasons. Wait.
There is a slight tug at the corner of Neuvillette’s lips, barely there, barely noticeable. If he hadn’t been inviting Wriothesley for these extended conversations for the better part of a month, Wriothesley would never have noticed it. But he’s learning to read the Iudex, learning to read the subtle changes in his expression.
“Or, perhaps… I could ask for something sweeter.” Neuvillette lifts a brow, but there at the corner of his mouth is that tug. “Like a creampie.”
Over a cup of tea, Neuvillette makes the observation that Wriothesley has a whole bakery down there, and Wriothesley offers him an éclair.
