Summary
Realizing he’s been staring, Gambit removes the cigarette from his mouth where it’s been dangling dangerously with his open-mouthed gaping and clears his throat. “Chѐre… for me?” he says, laying on the charm, hoping it’ll cover up how much just the sight of her has affected him.
“You wish,” Rogue scoffs before stepping down and approaching him. “A lady has to look her best when she goes out on the town, Remy.” She’s close enough he can see her earrings now, too, a gold hoop in each ear, glinting gently. “After all, there might be some real gentlemen at that restaurant,” she teases.
Rogue and Gambit finally get that date.

"Oh Mon cherie" Gambit muttered beneath his breath, shutting the door to his bedroom. he had it bad for his Cherie, his Rogue, even if she was something he could never have; not because they weren't attracted to each other, there attraction was quite apparent in their words, but because she didn't want to hurt him. he found it sweet.
but boy... that girl... that girl could be a damn tease when she wanted to be.
just earlier, they'd been playing their usual game, their verbal cat and mouse game. they'd been talking, her sitting in his lap, her hair a frizzy, curly mess as usual. they'd been arguing, and she'd been getting close and closer, close enough to kiss, but rogue made sure to keep her distance, any skin to skin with each other could be lethal. so instead, she'd pressed herself against him, her breasts pressed tightly to his chest. his eyes had wandered up to her eyes, only to find that she'd been staring at his lips. "oh cherie" he'd groaned, "why do you play such dangerous games with me?" and they'd keep going, getting closer, chest to chest and face to face...
