Summary
As part of a negotiation to forge an alliance between the elves and a dwarves, a marriage pact was struck between the two races. Durin, freshly fallen from his father’s favour and stripped of his title as heir to the throne, was the prime candidate to be wed to Elrond, who volunteered on behalf of the elves. The two get off to a rocky start, made worse as Elrond discovers the elves' motives for the arrangement may not be as innocent as they may seem. But soon found themselves facing more trouble than they had anticipated from a simple political alliance. Forced to set their initial animosity aside to work together against greater foes, trust and love comes to grow between them.

“I’m surprised by you, Galadriel. He seems far too…pretty…for you. I was under the impression that you preferred your men to be a little more…rugged.”Elrond’s cheeks tinged pink, unsettled by the man’s backhanded compliment. “I assure you, Adar, that I am perfectly capable of charming Galadriel despite the fact that I may not fit your expectations.”
Adar’s gaze darkened when Elrond spoke his name aloud, and his lips curled into a smirk.
“I have no doubt of your…charms,” he rasped. “But I do not believe that Galadriel has fallen for them.”
“Then let me put your doubts to rest,” Elrond stated, a flash of rebellion in his gray eyes.
Galadriel let out a soft gasp as he pulled her against him, his mouth meeting hers in a sudden kiss.
