Shen Qingqiu smiled. He opened his mouth. This one's purpose is to make sure Luo Binghe grows up well, he went to say.
That was not what he said.
He watched as the words left his mouth, as his sect's faces dropped. Yue Qingyuan and Luo Binghe turned pale. Qi Qingqi, confused. Mu Qingfang, upset but not surprised. Liu Qingge and the various disciples, angry.
"This one's purpose in life is to die."
"What do you mean by that, shixiong?" Mu Qingfang asked softly.
Shen Qingqiu quickly thought of a way to mitigate. Well, isn't everyone's purpose in life to die? Is that not the circle of life? He means to say.
Instead, what comes out of his mouth is, "My sole purpose in life is to be murdered and allow those I have wronged to enact their revenge." -

Accepting the cup with practiced ease, Yue-shixiong does not shy away from eye-contact. "To what do I owe Qi-shimei the pleasure? Is there anything I can assist with?"
Qi Qingqi purses her lips, a bit unsettled by the question, a denial at the tip of her tongue. Did a reason need to exist for her to visit her shixiong other than to share a cup of tea? That is not uncommon at all between peak lords. From anyone else, the question would have sounded too forthcoming, almost like a dismissal, but she knows that is not the case. Yue-shixiong's eyes are earnest; he means no ill. He never does.
... Except she does need her sect leader's assistance.
Or, 6 times peak lords individually hang out with Yue Qingyuan and realize there's something very wrong with his mental health, and the one time they address it.
