A gift from a drukhari can mean many things, but that's exactly how Marazhai describes his plan to Lillandyr. He has a gift. A gift that, according to him, she deserves for being so cunning and clever. Praise from someone like Marazhai does not come cheap and there's always something more than he lets on. Is a gift truly is going to be a gift? Or something else that Lillandyr will have to choke down like a bitter pill? She will find out. One way or another, she will find out. They are tied now, Marazhai and her. What's worse that can happen?
He chuckles and with the tip of his nose Marazhai nudges hers. Grip on her waist intensifies even further and Lillandyr clenches her teeth just to make sure she’s not going to give the drukhari satisfaction of hearing a pained yelp escape her.
“Yes, harder.” Marazhai chuckles and doesn’t even blink while his eyes bore straight into hers, so close that her sight starts to lose clear focus. Lillandyr’s nails dig into his pale skin, blood pebbles around the marks but she doesn’t see it, all she sees is deep, void-like blackness of his pupils.
