Summary
If he went home tonight, he’d have to be a memory, a disappointment, a promise, a prospect of redemption, a predecessor, a stabbing pain in someone’s heart, a memory of a beating in someone’s body, a wishful future presence in someone’s life. If he went home tonight, he’d be everything everyone else wanted him to be. Everything everyone remembered him to be. Everything he never was and never will be, and nothing he really is. If he went home tonight, it wouldn’t be home. It would be a cell, a coffin, an old green, red, and yellow suit. He’d be a silent, awkward nod, a desperate hug, a playful punch on the shoulder, a rigid handshake, a pleading smile, a pat on the back.
In honor of Jay's birthday, a little fic of his thoughts as he watches his 'family' setting up a 'surprise' party for him. One he'll never attend.

Summary
Undercover missions require sacrifice. Jason knew that going in. But Jason only needs a few more hours.
Unfortunately, the rest of the family has never been particularly good at letting him do things alone. What It Means
Lacuna is a formal word that refers to a gap or blank space in something—in other words, a missing part. When used with respect to biology, lacuna also refers to a small cavity, pit, or discontinuity in an anatomical structure.
// The absence of hemlock pollen from one stretch of the fossil record is a notable lacuna that suggests the tree may have once suffered from some type of blight that nearly wiped out the species.Merriam Webster Word of the Day, May 27, 2026.

Summary
Somewhere in the garage, Jason squeaks to a stop again, but this time, there’s no shouted exclamations, and the footsteps don’t start again. Dick furrows his brow. It sounds like he stopped near the Japanese cars, and Dick can’t even remember what’s over there. He picks up his pace from where he had been meandering through the garage and beelines to where he thinks Jason is, the sudden silence unnerving him. God, what if something’s wrong, what if—
Jason is standing, arms frozen at his sides, breath shallow, jaw clenched tight, eyes the size of dinner plates. When Dick sees what he’s staring at, he can’t help the smirk. Jason turns his whole head to look at Dick and says, in a near whisper: “is that a Supra?”
“Yeah,” says Dick, “that’s the Supra.”
OR
Bruce requests that Dick try to bond with Jason before the adoption and leaves zero instructions on how to do that. Dick improvises.

Summary
His hands were starting to tremble.
He didn’t have time for that.
A noise made him lunge for the nearest weapon-like item – the IV pole – before he looked for the source.
Nightwing was standing in the hall, staring at him.
Jason swore under his breath.—
