A sharp zing of guilt rushed through him, the kind reserved only for Jack. The kind that reminded him where they ended, but not where they began. Their beginning was too far away now, so many lives ago. And their ending was always looming near, always Robby’s fault.
Because even back then, when Robby hadn’t yet seen half of this world’s darkness, he still couldn’t keep him. Didn’t deserve to.
Now, with his hopes shattered, so broken and lost, how could he? Jack deserved so much more, so much better.

The soft sound of Lucifer’s bare hooves against the floor made Alastor’s hairs stand on end, his static turning from an alarmed screech to a soft, expectant hum.
Suddenly, he felt the bed dip under Lucier’s weight, and his warmth and smell invaded his senses. Lucifer had just climbed up on his bed and was making his way under his covers as if it was the most normal thing to do.

“Alastor?” Lucifer asked, breathless.

Jack Abbot stops breathing at exactly 8:52pm.
“Oh my God,” he hears someone exclaim, but he couldn’t tell you who.
As he takes in the figure on the gurney being wheeled into the ER, the IV in his arm, the blood in his hair, and the air being forced into his lungs every three seconds, Jack’s whole chest seizes up.
“It’s Doctor Robby,” One of the paramedics exclaims, like Jack can’t recognise him. Like they hadn’t kissed each other goodbye on the roof less than two hours ago.
