“I didn’t have time in Termina to find out if you needed help, too,” Link murmured to the mask, brushing a thumb over the same mark that had appeared on his cheek. “I’m sorry.”
The mask was warm in his hands. It was always warm when he held it.
Somehow, Link didn’t think this god was dead. He didn’t feel dead, anyway, and Link usually trusted his gut when it came to magic.
“I’ll figure it out,” Link promised the mask. “It might take a while, since we’re not in Termina anymore, but… I’ll figure it out. As a thank you for helping me so much.”
Or: Link breaks a mask and gets adopted by a god.

Red’s shoulders shake slightly with repressed laughter, his head tilting onto Vio’s shoulder as he watches the one man carnival act quickly become two as Green gets up to gesticulate at the issue, rather unhelpfully.
So that's it, then.
Vio takes the cue for what it is, returning to his original place in the book as Red’s attention drifts. It’s…whatever. He doesn’t care.
The once pleasant heat is starting to become unbearable. It’s as if it’s lighting his blood on fire. But it’s fine. This always happens, anyway. He expected this outcome.
He doesn’t care.
Though, it does irk him, just a little, if he were being honest…so it’s a good thing he never is.
In moments of quiet, Vio takes time to think.
He doesn't know what to make of the one who finally listens.

It's a normal day in Hatchetfield when a meteor hits the Starlight Theater.
Nothing happens.
No, really. Nothing happens.Okay, SOMETHING happens. A couple injuries. The Starlight Theater is shut down indefinitely. The sleepy town gets a surge of tourism as people come pooling in to see the meteor that tore right through the marquee. Peanuts gets a sizable donation for his squirrel house.
But that's it. Everything else is...fine. Just fine.But it's not supposed to be fine. Something was supposed to happen.

He had been chosen. Chosen by The Singular Voice, for a purpose. A role. A part in a play (one he did not understand, but he would soon). A something that was supposed to happen. A something that had not happened yet. But it would. It was inevitable.

If there’s no cedar leaf under the welcome mat, the amazake babaa that lives two apartments over will be knocking on their door by evening. His yokai-purifying excursions get mistaken for vigilantism far too often.
(What’s going on with All Might? Is Principle Nedzu a yokai? Tokoyami, could you please get Dark Shadow to stop calling me ‘my Lord’?)

Toshinori reaches a hand, the one that is shattered beyond repair and drenched in blood. He gives a smile to the boy. He can feel blood smeared across his teeth. He can't imagine his smile is any reassurance, but Toshinori is dying and desperate. A piss-poor smile is all he can give.
A piss-poor smile, and an earth-shattering quirk.
'I have a healing quirk,' he lies, begging the boy with his eyes. Please, say yes. Please accept my DNA. 'It only works on others. Let me h-help you? I won't last.' Toshinori's words come more and more haltingly. He can feel cold darkness encroaching on his limbs already. He tilts his hand, just slightly, just enough to renew his offer to the boy. 'At-At least… Not long enough… For help to arrive in time.'

Yagi Toshinori gets caught in a building collapse in his powered-down form. As he lays dying and without a successor, he offers his quirk to a young boy who is trapped alongside him.
All Might never makes it out of the building. But Midoriya Izuku does.
With no parent and a new limb-breaking quirk, he becomes a ward of UA.
