His heart gave a skip, and he froze with his rifle pointing in its direction.
"I swear to God if is a fuckin’ zombie…”, he thinks, but then he waits and after a second or two, he hears a sound that resembles someone struggling.
He pushed his rifle to the side, grabbed a dead person, and moved it to the side as gently as he could. He then encountered another one and then another one and then, when he moved a third one, he finally found what he was looking for.
It took him around ten seconds to realize it was a child, a shaking and frightened little girl.
His heart gave a skip, he wasn’t sure if it was because he was relieved of finding someone alive or because he was tremendously scared of and for this child.
Yet when this little girl in front of him, looks up at him and he finds the most teary and scared brown eyes in his life, his heart gives a violent skip, and he knows for sure that this time is for a different reason.
He thinks that the next few actions are pure instinct.
