Redfield had a gun in hand, armed, as soon as the bike pulled into view; Callan was no slouch himself when it came to handling weapons, but the commanding officer had drawn so fast it was a blur of lethal efficiency. Exactly how many months out of the year had he spent in the field, during his lifetime?
Chris seemed to recognize the rider long before the guy reached the house, lowering his Samurai Edge but not taking his finger off the trigger until the Ducati was parked, and the person had removed his helmet. Castelli couldn’t get a clear view of him, but he caught a flash of dirty blond hair and a muscular, athletic frame that moved with a familiar grace towards the entrance.
Callan was close enough behind Chris that he heard the man’s simultaneous greeting and warning to the visitor. He’d referred to the guy as a friend previously, but he didn't sound that way right now, the stern edge to his voice unmistakable.
