“Vox—Vox?!” Valentino growls softly and slams his fist against the wall, “Wake the fuck up you fucking asshole!”
Vox groans as his screen flickers on. He lets out a little tired breath, blinking up at Val.
“Un—fucking—believeable.” Val hisses at him and grabs his arm to drag him out of bed only for him to land on the floor when his legs don't catch up with him, “The only reason you got your stupid body back is to take care of our son while I work for the both of us and you can't even get up on time to do that.”
“Val—” Vox sighs, slowly grabbing at the mattress to pull himself up.
“You're so fucking pathetic—” Valentino throws his clothes onto his face, “Don't try to act all sorry for yourself now after you tried to kill all of us over that fucking deer?! You were going to kill our son Vox!”

“It's a fertility blessing—or curse depending on who you ask,” she answers him plainly, “It’s ancient succubi magic. Usually used between hellborns and humans who are having a hard time conceiving."
“What is it doing on me!”
She huffs, “You tell me, kid.”

It's a thought that makes Reo's heart skip a beat. Nagi is unaware of his thoughts, the alpha continuing to stare up at him, waiting. If Reo went into heat right now then it would be a chance to make sure Nagi wouldn't leave. The idea is both thrilling and terrifying. If he went into heat then Nagi would certainly help him.
And if Nagi helped him then Reo could probably convince him to…
Then Nagi wouldn't leave him again, right?

“Passcode, Nagi, what’s the passcode? So that you can finally get in, drink water, and sleep.”
“Oh,” Nagi blinks slowly, “Zero-eight-one-two-zero-five-zero-six.”
Reo froze. His fingers couldn’t touch the keys. “It’s the same as before. You didn’t…” he gulps, “You didn’t change it?”
Zero-eight-one-two-zero-five-zero-six. Basically, eight-twelve and five-six. It was a combination of their birthdays, one that Reo had combined on the spot when they were still in the process of moving in. Reo lets out a shaky exhale, and with trembling fingers, he pressed the keys.
“Of course I wouldn’t change it,” Nagi says, as the door unlocks. “How will Reo come back home if he doesn’t know the passcode?”

The red roses were a message. A symbol of his most treasured love for the lowly gardener’s son who had once diligently tended to the roses with his father. He wanted his father to understand and agonize in his final moments, that his downfall was ultimately because of the snake who had tempted his son into sin. Like a Greek tragedy, through his own actions, Aichirou ironically sprinted faster towards his demise.
He should have listened to the ostensible superstitions of their ancestors.

If his second attempt at forming a partnership goes tits up on him, especially with a rising star of the Pride Ring's adult media, he's got a snowball's chance in Hell of finding a decent alliance within the next few decades. Who knows what could happen in that time?
"Yeah, sure," he chokes out. "That could work." He clamps a hand round his glass and downs it to the very last drop.
