Please, son-“ Jack begs as he grabs onto Dick’s outstretched hand. “Please just promise me you will at least let me keep you safe. Wilson won’t even interrupt your work. He will simply watch from afar. I don’t want to lose you like I lost Amadeus. Please.”
Dick embraces his father at the mention of Jack’s late father. As much as he usually attempts to disprove such notions, Dick can tell the care for the man Jack has. As he lets go, Dick nods solemnly.
“Ok, dad. I’ll let Mr. Wilson bodyguard me.”—• or •—
Instead of billionaire philanthropist, Bruce Wayne, adopting the recently orphaned circus kid, another billionaire is there the night that Dick lost his parents.
But this billionaire’s night job poses a risk to his son. So, the reasonable thing to do is hire his local maybe-mercenary friend to protect him.

At 01:19 hours on October 3rd, BPD received a report of an unresponsive male inside the chapel of New Essex Hospital during an active citywide blackout. Responding officers located a deceased adult male positioned in the front pew nearest the altar. The body was blindfolded and the hands were secured together resembling being in prayer. Captain Rohrback remains cooperative, allowing me on-scene, unaccompanied at 02:02 hours.
Scene remains active. No known suspects at time of writing.
Dick tries to get back to work after War-Games.
