Summary
Shallows merman Katsuki leaves to travel the blue to satisfy something he can't name. The craving becomes evident when he runs into two dangerous apex mers. Twice his size, the two mers know exactly what Katsuki needs, and Katsuki is ready to draw blood if they can't satisfy. Katsuki expects to be sent on his way after, but apex mers are full of satisfying surprises.
“You know,” the mer said conversationally, and dammit, it infuriated Katsuki that he sounded so chipper. “I didn’t want to fight you. If you’d have asked nicely, I would have let you hunt in our territory.”
Katsuki could only pant, brow bent up in confusion. “Our…?”
He was so exhausted, he only felt the presence looming up to his back an instant before a chest pressed against him, forcing his spines down before they had a chance to lift defensively. Long fingers slid under his gills, capturing his middle. He could barely see pale skin and purple in his periphery. He froze, blood dropping to arctic temperatures at the deep surety of the quiet voice in his ear.
“That’s right, little fry. Our territory.”

“But no, seriously, what’s wrong with me?”
Recovery Girl doesn’t smile.

Izuku’s smile disappears.

Summary
Izuku has long been of the belief that, much like his quirklessness, he is a part of the 35% of the world’s population without a soulmate. He has made his peace with that. It is just another sad fact of his life and one among the many ways in which he is fundamentally unloveable.
This is only cemented when his mentor and mother get together, soon followed by half of his new classmates at UA, like the universe is shoving his perpetual loneliness in his face.
And then he discovers that his teacher is his second favorite hero, Eraserhead, and he irrevocably falls in love. It is not a gradual fall, but a steep decline into apparent madness, and despite how he does his best to ignore it, he eventually resigns himself to waiting (miserably) until graduation and beyond to attempt to woo the man of his dreams, if at all possible.
Good things come to those who wait, as they say. And Izuku's willing to wait as long as it takes.
But maybe he won’t have to, in the end. Maybe Izuku's love life isn't so hopeless, after all?

A marine biologist takes up the task of documenting the rare visage of mermaids, as hard to find as they've become over the years. Not many know much about them, but Yukimura Takiji was going to learn a thing or two when he finds a pair of mermen.

They smack down to his sides loudly, and Gladio takes a single measured step into his space. They’re nose to nose, breathing the same air, eyes locked together. He’s so close Noctis can see every spot his skin’s healed tight around the scars on his face.
“Now, Noctis?” His hands curl into fists at his sides, and his teeth ache as he gnashes them. He’s trembling, and his eyes narrow as the angry thing in his chest ticks. “Not when Ignis almost died for you? Not when your bride died for you, and you didn’t do shit to make good on her sacrifice?”
