Summary
Theo jumps happily across the sand, never landing on his fourth hop because Eddie scoops him up mid-air with one deft movement. One strong arm loops around Theo’s torso, holding him securely as Eddie dangles him on his side. He bends his head, sunglasses knocking to the side as he pretends to take a chomp out of Theo’s belly, blowing a big raspberry against his sandy skin.
“You can’t eat me,” Theo shrieks, legs kicking outwards with a vigor that comes only from the confidence of knowing Eddie will never drop him.
“Are you sure?” Eddie asks, grinning crookedly.
“Yes,” Theo says, already taking the moment of reprieve to heave himself up onto Eddie’s shoulders, comfortably settling all of his weight there.

He has roughly fifteen minutes of soccer left.
He could just sit here and watch the game like a normal person.

“It’s actually been kind of a rough year for them,” he says, letting his voice drop a little. Sun Hat Lady immediately leans in closer. “Like, they almost didn’t make it.”
“Oh no,” she breathes. “Oh, honey.”
“Yeah, it was… I mean, I don’t want to get into it.” He absolutely wants to get into it. “But basically, Theo— my little brother, number seven, the one who keeps—”
A whistle blows. Theo’s committed another foul. This one might actually be assault — Chris isn’t a legal expert but Theo basically used that kid as a speed bump.
“—doing that. So, Theo wasn’t planned. And when my dad, the blonde one, told my other dad, it was like…” Chris exhales wearily, having seen too much. “They were struggling. Communication issues. You know how it is.”
Sun Hat Lady nods gravely. She knows how it is.

“Hey, Spider-Man!” Eddie says, groaning dramatically as he picks Theo up. “You ready for the big game today?”
“If I score a goal, I get a kitty!”
Eddie’s laugh filters down the hall like music to Buck’s ears. “Is that so? I think we should go see what your Buck says about that. Chris, would you mind setting the table?”
“Yeah, I got it,” Chris replies in his usual teenage monotony.
Buck chuckles to himself and flops back against the pillows, just staring up at the whirring ceiling fan for a moment as his chest fills with contentment. He was wrong earlier; it does get better. Having all of his boys together under the same roof is the happiest Buck can get; he’s sure of it.
The sound of socked feet approaches until there’s another presence in the doorway.
“Rise and shine, Buckley, it’s game day."
Or: It's Theo's first soccer game of the children of queer parents' league that Hen and Karen recommended. Except Buck doesn't exactly mention this to Eddie beforehand. Cue: Rainbows, fluff, and promises of a kitty.

During the events of Age of Ultron, Sam is in Eastern Europe searching for Bucky Barnes, when he gets a call to come home to Louisiana, to his sister, who has just lost her husband. Unfortunately, due to the global threat from Ultron, all planes have been grounded.
Sam's only hope to get home is to trust the very man he had been sent to find.“Get up,” said Barnes. Voice even. “We’re getting you home.”
Sam rose without thinking. He hated that he did, but the word home had woken up the last coiled hope inside him.
Barnes turned and moved away. He didn’t look back, didn’t slow. No request to follow.
Sam just stood there with his bag slung over his shoulder, frozen to the spot; every muscle caught between bolting and advancing.
