Savitar pulls out a cigarette. It’s a bad habit he developed back when he was still trying to find a place for himself in Barry’s life—when he was still trying to be a person. He lights it and takes a long drag, the comforting feeling of smoke filling his lungs. He hears Barry coming long before he sees him, but doesn’t bother to turn.
“I don't smoke.” Barry says, in lieu of a greeting.

Summary
He never really means to forget how dangerous Leonard can be. It honestly just happens. With how Leonard is now, with the level their relationship is at, it's hard to remember that the man before him wouldn't hesitate to shoot someone if given no choice.
He certainly remembered now, but it wasn't the kind of reminder he ever wanted.
