“Pictures of what? Me helping Taehyun into the car? You’re acting like I took him home and let him use me! He was fucking presenting, not going into rut!”
“It doesn’t matter, Jeongguk! You were still seen. So not only have you jeopardized yourself, you’ve also endangered the dreams of those trainees to debut.”
What a load of crap. Taehyun wouldn’t have been able to even leave the practice room the group was stuck in if it weren’t for him. And then what? Would there be articles of an alpha going through presentation at BigHit because no one could get him out in time? Or would it be handled internally, kept on a tight leash until the memory fades?
“I don’t see how I could have done anything different. Yeonjun-ssi said he tried calling people from the company and no one answered!”
“You could have called me, for starters.” Namjoon says.
“Would you have even picked up?”
“Regardless,” Yoongi starts, shooting Namjoon a glare. “Dealing with an alpha in presentation is dangerous, especially as an omega. He could have hurt you.”
The “or worse” goes unspoken, but Jeongguk hears it anyway. Did they all think he was incapable of handling himself?
“It’s like every time you leave the house something disastrous happens.” Namjoon rubs at his face.
“Forget the house, try just leaving his nest.” Jimin mutters quietly.

and it's DONE!!! wow thank you all for reading along, I have so many amazing comments to get through and I'm glad to hear my gaslighting (aka the pack's gaslighting) was so effective that we're not sure what JK is.
should I tag this ambiguous ending? it could go either way, I think... maybe he is an omega but lacking some of the necessary natural characteristics or his hyungs maybe took his phone and figured out how to get another dose of those pills.
(my outline had the second option, but then I liked how unsure everyone was, and I realized I'd left enough clues to go either way!)

Or, Taehyung is a Border Collie Hybrid, so it's not really his fault that he keeps herding cute little lambs, right? It's instincts!

Someone popped open the trunk.
For a long moment, Taehyung simply stared. Unblinking. Unmoving. His brain, unhelpfully, short-circuited. The man staring back at him was handsome—annoyingly so. Dark hair, slicked back with precision. Sharp cheekbones, soft mouth. A face that looked like it belonged on a billboard, not gaping into the trunk of a car.
Taehyung lifted a hand—an awkward wave. The man didn’t react. He just blinked down at Taehyung, slow and measured. Then, wordlessly, he shut the trunk once more.
“Jimin,” a voice croaked. “There’s a dude in your trunk.”
Or, Kim Taehyung accidentally kidnaps himself and decides to make it everyone else's problem.
