My take on death note, except many of the characters are genderbent versions of themselves.
Light Yagami has played the role of the perfect student well, but it's become terribly boring. She uses a magical notebook, the death note, to try and fix the world, while an odd lady detective tries to catch her and a fledgling actor tries his best to earn her affection.
This is the updated version of Blue Moon, which I began and then abandoned in 2017...

Summary
Light was struggling to fall asleep. L wasn’t helping in any capacity. Every minute spent in this room, in this tower, in this situation that she had somehow put herself in—god forbid—was another minute where Light thought she truly must have lost her mind.
(or: sleeping is not so easily accomplished when you are an unwilling conversation partner.)

Summary
“But you really want to,” Light murmurs, leaning close - her warm breath tickles L’s ear. “Don’t you? You really want to.”
The image Light has been offering her returns, sharp and unwelcome, each line of its mental painting cutting L’s conscience open and reminding her what endless games, initiated by them both in turns long before the endgame, did to her morals, butchered agonisingly her already faltering belief that she can still be just.
The spread of pages, inanimate, with the power pure and nonviolent when unsummoned and ancient in its consequences, waiting for symbols to be inscribed. Paper folded under her wetness.
