Summary
In the end, respite was found in the castle Revak built for them. Celebrations and reunions carried them far into the night, so that by the time Seila retired to her room she found herself half-supported by Zarsori’s armored frame.

Summary
It was then that two strangers walked into the cafeteria, crushing beneath them the last shred of attention Seila had to spare for the conversation. They must have been students, dressed the way they were, though they seemed quite a bit older than most- maybe graduate students, like her, or dropouts returning after some years abroad. In either case, Seila had not seen them before, for she would have certainly recognized them if she had.

Summary
By the time the door opened again, the sweat had already dried from her skin. Seila stepped out into the alley wrapped in a heavy leather jacket. It was hard to tell whose it was from the half-dead bulb hanging above the door, but Zarsori doubted it was Seila's.
"Hey,"
"Zarsori," Seila answered, and for half a second her eyes warmed- softened, relieved- before they flickered down to the cigarette in her hand. "I thought you were quitting."

Summary
"Do you want some?" Zarsori offered, and pulled apart a few pieces of the orange. "I don't mind sharing with you."
Seila watched Zarsori's hand, the fruit pinched loosely between her fingers like an idol. "...I shouldn't."

Summary
Seila opened her eyes to a cool gray light. For a few blissful moments she blinked slowly at the world outside of her window, the pinpricks of snow that would keep her cool as she walked to the rink. She turned heavily from her side to her stomach to squint at the calendar on her wall. Not that there was any world, in any lifetime, in which she would not know, from the moment her mind cleared of sleep, exactly what day it was. She had marked it on her calendar. She had written it in her notes app, and sealed it inside her skull until she could count down the days on one hand.

Summary
Zarsori's footsteps fell heavy as she returned to her room. One bracer was already unbuckled, wedged under her arm. The other was well on its way. She could use a bath, she thought, or at least a short rest. The short rest was marginally more appealing at this point, she had to admit, but if Seila came back to bloody sheets she might be a touch upset with her. Zarsori began to consider whether she might have time to rest and change the sheets before Seila checked the bedroom- but Seila was already there, poised over her desk with several ledgers strewn across.

Consciousness drew Seila like the sunrise, though there was no such dawn to be found. Warmth there was, and her first half-awake intent was to move closer- then again, there was a reason she had awoken in the first place.

"How do you feel about this kind of thing?" Seila asks, and she knows she’s being indirect about it, but it’s a big question.
Zarsori cocks her head, though she doesn’t miss a step in their dance. Seila is floating a few inches off the ground to avoid stepping on her toes. "About what?"- Language:

Summary
Seila dredges to consciousness under heavy eyelids. She’s in a hospital bed. Either that, or in the room of someone who keeps their home exceptionally disinfected. There is one complex lifeform beside her, her hand resting warmly between their own. With effort, she opens her eyes. Zarsori’s are there to meet hers.

Summary
Lup is a warlock patron and a powerful lich. She doesn’t have time to “go out” or “see people”, something her brother never fails to remind her of. So she might have told a little lie to get him off her back, which fireballed into a big lie, which culminated with her in desperate need of a date to bring to the next family dinner.
Well, she’s got her favorite warlock on speed dial. Hopefully Taako won’t know the difference. -

The Red Robe floated above the circle of glass, recovering from the terror and elation that had been sparking through him just a moment before. A laugh bubbled out of him in spite of himself, even as he buried his face in his hands. “Oh, gods, I have got to leave better notes.”
He angled his head up towards the sky, where a cannonball docked on the moon. “I’ll get you back babe,” He said. The words felt like butterflies in his throat. “Soon.”

“Your name isn’t Carlisle?” I asked dumbly. I felt like my family had lived a double life. I supposed that they had, but somehow a different name is what made that fact real to me, a separate title for each chapter.

Turns out the Cullens change their names each time they move. Bella feels disproportionately betrayed by this fact. -

Summary
Lup flopped down on the bed, taking up more than half with her limbs sprawled wide. “I’ll have you know I’m a terrible sleeping partner. I’ll kick you off the bed,” she laughed.
Barry quietly disagreed. He and Lup had shared a sleeping space before. He almost wished she would kick him in her sleep, just to keep him awake so he didn’t forget, in his drowsy state, what they were there for. Out loud he said, “It's- um, you’re fine. It’s pretty big anyway.”
“At least they’ve got that going for them,” Lup muttered. “I give this plane uuuh, a six out of ten. Very nice beds. No sense of personal space.”Series
