    Derek slumps in his chair. After so long, he closes his eyes. A smile reaches his lips. Tears well and pour. His pulse stops in a rhythm. His life is slipping, and the universe floods his eyes. The stars, the earth, all of history, all that will ever be, aliens and starships, occultism and symbols, every language across the known realm; It's too fast to comprehend, but the beauty brings him to breathlessness. The king's screams echo through the chaos.

    Somewhere, out there, right there, right here, Avery cries. Derek knows he's mourning. The hope, the hopelessness, the love, the betrayal, the grief, he willingly feels it all. He looks through the house. Avery's mother is watching the ball drop, His sister and brother bicker over alcohol. Fireworks thunder outside. Derek revels in the celebrations. He won't get another. Avery's sobs are drowned out by the noise below. He extends his oblivion-touched hands, but cannot reach him.

    Ze catches Hanahaki, a fatal curse that won’t leave unless he admits his feelings to Regect. He doesn’t know what to do and his condition will only worsen the longer he takes. However, confessing is harder than it seems. He's certain Regect would never be interested in him, they notoriously clash with each other at every opportunity. The chances are next to zero. Ze refuses to experience that type of humiliation along with possibly losing this small friend group forever. Hanahaki doesn't give him a choice though... but maybe he can stall. Maybe he can romance Regect into reciprocating before time runs out.

    Ze is staying at Mason's place for a family reunion. When they start to head out to hang out around town, Mason realizes he forgot his phone, and Ze has to go save his homie's phone. Little do Ze or Mason realize that Ptolemy is incredibly protective of his boyfriend's space and only recognizes Ze from old photographs. Unfortunately, this means Ptolemy is also incredibly down with trying to murder Ze.

    "I'm driving," for emphasis, he honked the horn. Trying to hide the tiny flinch it tore out of him.

    "I'm letting you stay at my apartment. Plus, you'll be faster, my apartment's on the 3rd floor, and I'm wearing my binder."

    Ze rolled his eyes, letting his shoulders drop exaggeratedly, "Fine." With that, he pulled his seatbelt off and popped open the door. Hopping out and ignoring Mason's laughing at his dramaticism.

So, along with an apology, ReGect proposes a way to finally bury the hatchet between the two of them. To make it fair, he could let Z use his powers and do anything he wanted, just for a day, with just a tiny catch. But what becomes a one-time strange experiment becomes a connection that leads to decisions that neither could have anticipated.
