Summary
Ryland Grace thought that working on secret government science projects and then being basically bitten by a radioactive spider and then turning into a gosh-darn superhuman would be the wildest thing that ever happened to him. Because why wouldn't it???
But then one day, after coming home from his perfectly NORMAL job as a school teacher, he senses something. Something new, yet familiar. After trying to chase his best friend's worry away (that certainly won't bite him in the butt, no....) he walks into his house and finds...NINE other spider people. A good chunk of them, by the way, are TEENAGERS and he's pretty certain that he shouldn't be ok with literal kids runninga round risking lives. He's a teacher, for crying out loud!

“Yeah. Nothing beats cuddles, if you ask me,” Grace said, trying to lighten the mood.
Simon’s frown only deepened. “I wouldn’t really know.”
Grace’s smile dropped. He fidgeted with his glasses, an idea already forming, but no. No, that’s a lot to ask. Too much. They’re barely friends. More like roommates of pure circumstance who mostly get along.
But what if…?
“Would you…” Grace started. Stopped. Tried again. “This is like, totally no pressure, and you can say no. But, uh, if you wanted to, we could, um—”
“Spit it out, man,” Simon said, not unkindly, if a little annoyed.
“Wouldyouwanttotrycuddlingwithme?”
Simon blinked. “What?”
Or... against all the odds, Simon finds himself in Ryland Grace's universe. This is how they find home.

“Hey Fogs? What do I look like?” Matt really wasn’t expecting to ask that tonight. He was only two beers in (well, two beers in at his apartment. He and Foggy had spent the last three hours at Josie’s before Matt invited him over for a few more drinks at his place). He’d expected himself to be drunker when he finally asked that question.
“What wuzzat, Matty?” Foggy slurred through his bottle, already mostly empty.
“What do I look like?” Matt felt Foggy shift on the couch beside him (fabric on fabric, shifting upholstery, joints creaking in Foggy’s legs). They hadn’t had this kind of discussion since that fateful night back in law school when Foggy let Matt touch his face.

Grace does so many wonderful things for Simon, which he’s started noticing after really starting to believe he’s not, y’know, dead or dying.
The only Grace doesn’t do is swear. It’s just Simon’s luck that’s what he wants more than anything.

Grace is nervously, carefully learning to enjoy having Simon aboard the Hail Mary, he’s hopeful that Simon is starting to come out of his shell. He’s . . . Hopeful about a lot of things, things he probably shouldn’t be hopeful for.
Or; Simon’s been carefully adjusting to his limited time on the Hail Mary, on account of this can only be his ‘7 minutes’ of brain activity before he dies.
At least the angel sent to help him move on is as beautiful as they were said to be.
