Summary
Parker Yang set out to take down a child murderer with his partner, Arthur Lester--or he did, before everything went to shit.
Now he's stranded in a place called the Dreamlands, forced to share space with a pissy, dramatic god, and the only thing either of them know is that some part of this disaster has to do with the book that Parker ripped out of Wallace Larson's hands before being thrown through a black mirror.
The Dreamlands doesn't work like Earth. Parker needs to get on his feet, find a way home, and help save Arthur from the horrific fate promised him; assuming he can rise above the madness, instead of succumbing to it.

Summary
Serial killer Wallace Larson has been murdering children for his ritual, and the cops won't stop him. Private investigators Parker Yang and Arthur Lester choose to get involved... and everything goes wrong.
Interrupting the ritual leaves Parker missing, Arthur in chains, and a piece of the King in Yellow in Arthur's head. But this piece knows who he is, and knows what he wants: to complete his ritual and rule Earth.
Unfortunately, Arthur is incredibly stubborn, maudlin over his missing partner (stupid Parker Yang), and John, it turns out, is not the only piece of the King seeking power right now.
It's a race against time, and John has a heavy handicap. With Larson in pursuit, a trail of murdered victims in their wake, and a host whose body is failing, John is determined to win at any cost... even if the cost includes Arthur Lester.

We were at that moment visited by a terrible, inevitable vision of the Ethuverazhid Zhas cornered by our mother, and we confess we had to lean on the wall in a brief violation of Alchenar IX.I.VI. Even the edocharei seemed taken aback; even Cala. Edrehasivar looked horribly dismayed at this non-reaction, and immediately started to backtrack.
"We do not wish to inflict ourself," he said wretchedly. "It was only a— a thought…" He trailed off, but the pause persisted. In it, we reflected to ourself that while we had taken knives for this boy, and would willingly take plenty more, he had — indeed, has — a talent for making us want to scream in dismay.

So, spoilers for up to episode 56 (and, really, not much else).
So, as I finished episode 56, I was hoping that John would get *Arthur* in his head or something and Arthur would live *that way.*
And then I decided to write a fic about it.
And then I cut that out of the fic because I was bored and didn't feel like leaving it off on anything but a sad/bittersweet note.
So now we just have a really sad seeing-eye demon, without the blind Englishman he puts up with, in a shorter-than-usual length (for me, anyways) fic.

“John,” Arthur says, reaching out. His grasping hand makes contact with nothing, and he laughs as a single tentacle threads through his fingers, a parody of an embrace. “You’re back.”
“No,” John says, even as he caresses the side of Arthur’s face with a familiar hand, wooden pinkie brushing along the line of Arthur’s jaw. “I’m … I don’t know if I can return to you, Arthur.”
“What on earth are you on about?” Arthur steps closer, into the shadows. A chill skitters across his skin, gooseflesh bubbling up instantly, and he shivers as the tentacles wrap around him, keeping him close and safe. “You’re right here.”
“You’re dreaming.”

John, after reuniting with the King, is able to draw on the King’s powers to appear in Arthur’s dreams.
