“I thought you should… see this,” Eddie then mumbles, fingers smoothing over the leather binding.
Buck patiently watches as Eddie carefully flips the book open. There are dozens of sketches in here, some better than others. His childhood home back in El Paso, dunes only he knows exist just like this back in Afghanistan; a hand holding out, reaching for nothing.
And then, on one of the last pages he’s filled so far—a shirtless man, viewed from behind, shown from the waist up, looking up at the upper left corner of the page, looking nothing short of a Greek God, ethereal glow and everything.
Buck’s breath hitches when he sees it. Realizes that the messy curls, the defined back muscles, the patch of darker pencil around the brow, is all… him.or the one where Eddie Diaz worships Buck's lightning scars.

“This is nice, Buck.” Albert said, looking around. Buck watched him for a minute to see if he was serious or joking, but he was just smiling at the pictures Buck had hung up that Chris had drawn or had made him get printed. “I really appreciate you letting me stay here.”
“No problem.” Buck shrugged, heading for the bedroom to get his bag.
“I’m also glad that your boyfriend isn’t threatened by me.” Albert continued and Buck promptly tripped through the door to the bedroom and he heard Eddie do the same in the kitchen. “Oh my gosh, are you guys ok?”
“Good!” Eddie called, coughing a little.
“Yeah, all good.” Buck grunted as he pushed himself back up.
“Sorry, I was just trying to make a joke. I know I’m not a threat when that’s the type of person you’re with. I mean, good for you, Buck. You too, Eddie. You’re both very lucky.” Albert apologized.
