Summary
After the last Avatar, Avatar Ymir Fritz of the Northern Water Tribe, is secretly captured and slaughtered by the Fire Nation, the Avatar Cycle moves on to the Earth Kingdom. The Fire Nation, raged and wanting to conquer the other three nations, invades the Earth Kingdom in search of the next Avatar.
Every young earthbender they capture is tested, and when deemed not the Avatar, they are imprisoned—or even killed. With every Earth Kingdom town they destroy, the number of earthbenders becomes dangerously scarce, and the Earth Kingdom becomes almost completely ruled by the Fire Nation.
But, hope will not be lost.
Because in the far, deep lands of the Southern Pole, a hidden waterbender and his scientist friend find themselves being rescued from a sudden rockslide when traveling to the Southern Air Temple, their savior an Air Nomad… who used earthbending.
A secret Earthbender, raised as an Air Nomad, discovers his true identity.
Eren, the Lost Earthbender.
Eren, the next Avatar.
The one whose destiny is to stop the Fire Nation.

He supposes dying here is a kindness, instead of in between the teeth of a titan, like the fate so many of his comrades had. Sure, he’d never know if it’s possible to rid the world of those monstrosities outside the walls. He’d never see the day those walls actually fall. He’d never see what actually lies beyond them. What life is like outside of everything he’s ever known. If the sun shined differently without the confines of a cage.
If all the suffering had been worth it in the end.
Or the one where Levi gets separated from the rest of his squad while out on a mission, and Eren, who has grown up outside the walls, finds him before death does.

Summary
All it took was a rock.
And not a particularly big or all powerful, narrative haunting rock either. It wasn't a massive boulder or a magic stone but rather an ordinary pebble comfortably wedged into wet mud and overgrown moss. But even so, that seemingly irrelevant piece of earth was all it took to completely rewrite a story, to create a new timeline.
Isn’t that fascinating? How even the smallest of details can lead to such dramatic divergence in fate? Is this the will of the spirits who exist beyond human comprehension? To dictate and control so thoroughly through the flap of a butterfly's wing that it’s impossible to even claim their interference. An interesting theory certainly, but not one that would ever be considered by our protagonist whose entire life is about to change…
Because of a rock.

Or, Naruto suffers an accident that leaves him physically scarred and half-blind, will this change the story line?
