Shane is aware that he is an absolute mess, with hands trembling and shoulders shaking. His breaths are coming in short bursts, quicker than he is able to control them.
The confession sits like an elephant between them, and yet, Ilya hasn’t moved, tracing soothing circles between Shane’s shoulder blades.
“Sweetheart.” His husband’s voice is steady, soothing. “You need to breathe for me, okay? This isn’t good for you.”
OR, after a night out with J.J. and Hayden, Shane wakes up, certain that he has cheated on Ilya. (Spoiler alert: he hasn’t)

Summary
It’s perhaps the sweetest Svetlana has ever known Ilyusha to be. She has always been granted access to the more affectionate side of Ilyusha, the one that he rarely shows to anyone else, but it was never anything compared to this. This tenderness, this adoration, that he gives so freely to Shane. It’s like her best friend is a completely different person right now, and she starts to wonder if maybe she was wrong earlier.
Maybe, instead of being too boring for Ilyusha, perhaps Shane Hollander is giving him the space to become something soft. Something without walls, or masks, or armour.

Luckily, he wasn’t the only one. Summary
Shane and Ilya aren't outed, but they're still planning to get married in July and now have to tell the people they care about that they're together and getting married.
Ilya told Marleau and Troy face to face, and made a funny joke about just showing up to camp and acting like everyone had always known, because just telling his best friends had given him so much anxiety he'd nearly been sick.
Except Shane hadn't thought it was a funny joke. Shane thought it was a GREAT plan. It probably needed a dry run at the Kingfisher first.
