He turned towards Changbin, before asking, “I have always wanted to ask this…” The man hesitated before continuing, "But are they… or were they lovers?” He gestured towards where Chan was sitting and staring at the table, and to where Minho was standing, leaning against the wall and drinking another can of red bull, while still gazing at Chan in concern.
Changbin laughed but it sounded a bit forced as he shook his head sadly, “Worse.” He paused before adding.
“They are fucking stupid.”

Jisung flinched, though he didn’t let it show. He remained still, rigid, muscles coiled, posture controlled. Even in that moment of unease, he refused to break.
“Yes, Captain.”
Or: seven years after their breakup, Minho and Jisung cross paths again in the middle of a war. Jisung has nothing yet to lose—the war has taken his wife, his daughter, and the life he once tried to build. Minho, meanwhile, has become someone else entirely. “I didn’t want to wake you—” Chan cuts himself off, hand flexing around the biosync, grooves digging into his palm. “Turn you on. I didn’t want to turn you on at all.”
Felix’s brows lift, a minute shift that makes his face seem more animated. “Then perhaps you’d like to explain why I’m standing here,” he gestures to the room, then to Chan, “taking part in this oh-so-stimulating conversation?”
“State-sanctioned corporate blackmail.”
Felix is unimpressed by this answer.
Chan has spent three years in a seclusion pod when the system sends him Felix, an android designed to keep him company. Or to keep him from killing himself. Chan isn’t entirely sure what the truth is, but he knows better than to trust anything they give him, doesn’t he?
