Summary
It’s completely still and quiet here, barely even the sounds of the trees rustling in the wind. It’s like all the wildlife knows to avoid this place. Hell, even the Wolf in Derek is snarling at him to turn back.
Erica and Boyd tumble into the clearing just after him, looking crazed as they scent the air. Erica’s got leaves and twigs in her hair and Boyd’s boots are covered in mud.
He turns back to the clearing and his breath catches when he spots something he hadn’t before. He feels frozen when recognition dawns on him because there, laying limply on the stump of the Nemeton, is Stiles. And just like everything else here, he is utterly silent and unmoving.
Derek’s ears ring.
Or: A rogue Alpha is terrorizing Beacon Hills. Queue the “Stiles as bait gone wrong” trope.

There was a knock on the door and Stiles grimaced as he held his side, trying not to pull his stitches. The pain inched through his body as he moved to sit up on the couch, dulled only from the pain medication he’d taken earlier that night. He looked down at his side, placing a hand over the bandage and held it as he stood up. He never wanted to be shot ever again, but he knew that was unlikely given his job description.
He padded over to the door slowly, reaching out to pull it open with a wince. His eyes fell upon Derek standing there just outside his door.

Summary
As if the horror of losing his mother wasn't enough, there was another horror tormenting Stiles at the same time. An unimaginable horror that was a trusted family member who was supposed to care for and protect him. A secret Stiles tried to bury away for the sake of whatever remained of his family...it was going well for awhile...until the horror returned for a visit.
Derek comes when Stiles calls in a panic, and stays by his side protectively and patiently as the night unravels hard truths.
