Summary
Shane has learned that Rozanov played in the KHL up until signing with the Centaurs. His departure from his previous team seemed to end on anything but friendly terms. He has a reputation. Trouble always seems to find him. Or maybe he chases it. There’s stories about fights in the locker room, authority issues, and he’s apparently a notorious party boy, a womanizer, some new omega on his arm in every photo online.

And Shane hates the way he blushes under the alpha’s attention.

Summary
Nobody moves for a moment as Shane stares the woman down, and he’s seconds away from sawing the damn thing off himself, when the woman nods to the men surrounding the hybrid. And then there’s a flurry of movement, a clicking sound and then the men stand back to reveal Ilya in his bare faced glory, unobstructed by the muzzle.
Shane takes him in, inhaling softly at the sharp cheekbones, the moles dusted over his face, the pillowy lips that are set in a firm, displeased line. Shane wonders how big his fangs are. If he was a fighter, they must have been sharpened regularly.
Shane doesn’t want to think about the damage this wall of a hybrid had inflicted on others, the damage he could inflict on Shane. The hybrid stares at him, expression hard to determine but the intensity of it has Shane holding back a shiver. He’s staring at Shane like he can see every thought inside of him, calculating. As if they were on opposing sides of a ring, ready for the bell to chime and for Ilya to go in for the kill.
Shane gets roped into fostering a troublesome hybrid with a bad track record. Except what begins as a cordial arrangement turns into something much more complicated.

Summary
Life feels so chaotic for Shane sometimes, with all the loud noises and the unwritten rules he’s expected to follow, even though no one ever taught them to him. It’s why the bookstore feels more like home to him than anywhere else in Boston. It doesn’t ask Shane to be anything other than himself. Doesn’t ask for any more than he can give.
He can just exist here.
Shane likes slow, likes taking his time. And Ilya - without saying or doing anything in particular - makes Shane feel like that’s okay. Like he isn’t doing anything wrong by standing still sometimes.
(Or, Shane works in a bookstore, Ilya plays hockey, and they both go to the same college. They fall in love in every universe.)
