Summary
The avatar gaang is not quite ready to go their separate ways in the conclusion of the events with Tagah. They are all in their mid to late twenties and have saved the world yet again. Spending quality time together has lead a certain sassy metalbender and a hot-headed leader of a nation to question what they mean to one another. What was once a very close friendship may be blooming into something more. Zuko and Toph have to grapple with new found feelings for one another and what that means for 2 of the worlds greatest heroes. It's hard to say if their responsibilities to the betterment of the world will bring them closer or tear them apart. Can these yearning disasters figure it out?

Summary
Zuko, ruling Lord of the Fire Nation, has spent the last thirteen years attempting to remedy a hundred years’ worth of atrocities. After his breakup with Mai eight years ago, he’s remained stoically single due to focusing solely on reshaping and overhauling his nation. But being nearly thirty without a Fire Lady or an Heir Apparent has left Zuko politically vulnerable.
Toph, future Countess of the Beifong dynasty, has spent the last thirteen years trying to build a legacy of her own. After her breakup with Satoru one year ago, she’s been rejecting marriage offers while struggling to maintain her academy and establish a metalbending force. But being freshly twenty-five without a husband or political backing has left Toph socially vulnerable.
A fake courtship should solve both their problems. It will give Zuko a break from court pressure, a chance to organically find a Fire Lady and make a love-match, and deter opposing factions. It will give Toph a break from familial pressure, a powerful tool to advance her academic and career goals, and deter suitors. Everything will be practical, temporary, and completely false.
Unfortunately, Toph and Zuko have never been good at doing what they’re supposed to.

"I am grateful that you're finally paying attention to the possibility of marriage," he began, scrambling for the appropriate words. "But the need to change the decree, I wonder. Why?" He kept it simple.
The question lingered for a few seconds. Zuko was unmoved, and maybe he wished the walls of the hallway would simply absorb it, so that he wouldn't have to answer at all. He even thought that if he stayed quiet—and gave the chamberlain an intimidating enough look—the man might take that as an answer.
The chamberlain shifted slightly. It was working.
But then he straightened, squaring himself to face the Fire Lord properly.
"Do you have someone in mind, Fire Lord Zuko?"

Zuko quietly amends a century of Fire Nation marriage law for a friend who doesn't know he's in love with her.

Summary
Life in the Fire Nation is wonderful. Five years into their marriage, Zuko and Toph have found a peaceful rhythm between ruling a nation, policing a metropolis, and raising their chaotic, fire-sneezing four-year-old daughter, Izumi.
When the Gaang gathers at the Southern Air Temple to await the birth of Katara and Aang's first child, a well-meaning, passing comment about the "priceless first sight of your baby" cuts Toph deeper than anyone realizes. She loves her daughter through every vibration in the earth, but she has never known the color of Izumi's eyes, or the exact shape of Zuko's smile. It is her deepest, most silent angst.
When Katara asks her to fly out for medicinal herbs, Toph encounters a mysterious witch who offers her the impossible: twenty-four hours of true visual sight.
