Summary

A man-eating merman killed all of William’s crewmates. Leaving him, the lone survivor. When he too is finally caught. William is not killed or eaten. Instead, the merman kisses him. Gently like a reunited lover.
William has no memories of his past life as a merman or of being Mark’s mate. So, he is extremely confused and terrified when he is kidnapped. Then held captive by an overwhelmingly affectionate monster.

Cecil feels his stomach clench in apprehension as he looks at the Mark through grainy security footage. Hands behind his head and expression perfectly calm surrounded by reanimen.
No yelling, no cocky smirk, no crazy eyes.
There's also none of the anxiety or anger or any of the complicated array of emotions that Cecil is used to seeing on those features. Just the sort of calm confidence that stems from the complete and utter certainty that he’s the strongest person in the room. Cecil is intimately familiar with that look, since he used to see it all the time.
