Goka sits stiff in contrast, irritated at the fact that he's not at least in uniform, feeling bare without his armour. There's a buzz in the air, the cicada song spilling in from outside to break up the quiet.

It's odd, really. Zanka is one of the most cool headed people she knows, except for the occasions where he's clearly trying to not implode after a compliment from Enjin. There's something about his energy now – crisp and tightly contained, like when a pot of water has been left to boil in the seconds before you turn off the heat. It reminds Eishia of when they're on the field; Zanka can be intimidating when the right enemy is in front of him. But they're not on the field right now. They're in the market and it's a sunny day and Eishia is worried she's done something wrong that she can't yet understand.
Or: Team Akuta have the day off.

"I don't want you to come near me," the civilian says, clutching onto his arm with all the possessiveness of a man who believes something will be stolen from him. This is one reason why Eishia doesn't like being on the field – there's more chance of having to interact with non-Givers and they really tend to not like her.

Zanka's luck really is shit. Or great. It depends on how you view the situation. On one hand he has a window seat. On the other hand, Eishia is sat in between him and Riyo, with every swerve of the car pressing their shoulders together. Zanka has never felt so nervous – not even on his first mission where a Trash Beast tried to chomp into his spine.
"You guys good back there?" Corvus asks, his voice cutting through the music that Tamsy has been playing at a volume that should probably be illegal.
If Zanka was being honest he would say fuck no.
Or: it's the season of puppy love.

“You have reached the Greatest Teacher and Strongest Sorcerer Gojo Satoru,” he beams into the phone. It’s the kind of intro that would annoy both Yaga and Shoko equally. “How may I grace you with my presence today?”
“Gojo-san?”

Summary
The man shrugs, extracts one, places it into his mouth and picks his pen up again. He rubs crumbs onto the paper, then brushes them off onto the table. Kento’s jaw twitches. Silence descends upon them. Kento watches the man write in messy strokes, chuckle and grunt and sigh. He’s grading papers Kento realizes, moving through a hefty stack and staining the trailing edges of his cardigan in ink that’s slow to dry in the cool air.
“You teach?”
And Kento only wants to know because the work on the paper appears to be highly convoluted mathematical equations.
Blue eyes jump back up to him.
“I do. I teach theoretical quantum physics at the university and do a specialized course focussed solely on Hegel. If you’re interested I only teach it in the fall.” The man winks.
“You teach quantum physics?”
“Theoretical quantum physics, yeah,” the man smiles a little oddly at Kento, before he beams. “Do I not look the part?”
In which two men become linked regardless of the distance separating them.
