But when he came back from throwing Skulker back in the Infinite Realms to his parents rushing his body to the hospital, he didn't have much choice. They wouldn't leave his side and his body was shutting down despite all the equipment fighting to keep him alive. He never told them he was their son because that would bring more questions than answers. Locked up in the basement, the Drs. Fenton worked tirelessly to find a way to keep Phantom out but every time they did, Danny would start dying. There had to be a way to save their son. After exhausting every avenue of their own, they finally, reluctantly, reached out for help.

When Danny goes ghost, he leaves his body behind in a semi-comatose state with critical vital signs. His parents find him that way, and when Phantom returns to his body, they think he's possessing their son. They can't keep him away, so they call the Justice League as a last resort.
