The next few days pass in a hazy kind of domesticity. You spend most of your time with Akaza, who's elected to stay camped out on your bedroom floor. You call in a few of your sick days to stay home with him, and it’s probably a good thing you do. Every time you get up to use the bathroom or bring him something to eat, he looks at you like you've just told him you're going off to war. Like you're leaving the country instead of going two rooms away to grab something from the kitchen.

This fic was inspired by the very talented InvertedPhantasmagoria! It can be read as a direct continuation of Chapter 3 of their Pet AU fic for Akaza, where reader attempts to rehabilitate Akaza from a fight ring. Issues ensue, but things can and do get better with time.
