Summary
Due to political tensions between the Andorians and the rest of the Federation, all humans are evicted from Andor. The Enterprise is assigned to take on board the human scientist Dr. Jean O'Leary, who is working on a top secret project. While assisting her in the lab, Spock is infected with the Andorian sleeping disease, which is incurable and known to be deadly for Vulcans. Evidence suggests that someone did this to him on purpose. At the same time, the Enterprise is attacked by an unknown ship and the science lab with all of Dr. O'Leary's work destroyed by an unknown intruder. Now Jim and Bones have to find out who is behind all this and what they can do to save Spock's life.

Spock has always had a difficult time negotiating between his human and vulcan half. This sometimes leads to complex, and rather illogical, emotions that he cannot control despite his training. Jim is rather in tune with his vulcan but finds it hard to bring up his concerns leading to a huge misunderstanding and a lot of hurt. Can Spock and Jim figure out how to care for each other?
AKA Spock is depressed, Jim notices but doesn't know what to do, and they have to figure out how to take care of each other.
