"What would you do if someone you knew and trusted wasn't what you'd thought?" Kaneki asked. "If while everything good about them was genuine, they'd also done horrible things as well."
Amon hadn't expected to end up at a gay bar even if on a mission to track down a ghoul. And he certainly hadn't expected to bring someone back home with him even though it was to protect him from being taken by said ghoul. Yet something about Kaneki drew Amon in. Maybe it was the secrets he held closely to him, his insights which cut to the heart of Amon's questions, or even the quiet strength Kaneki carried with him, but Amon knew he'd never find someone like him again. Whatever Kaneki was running from, Amon would be there to put him back together again.
Kaneki had intended to track Nico down. He hadn't expected to run into a very familiar investigator while waiting, and when numbers had counted down in sevens and Rize had whispered in Kaneki's mind, he'd taken Amon's hand and let himself to be whisked away from the ghoul who'd triggered those memories. Amon quieted the voices in Kaneki's head and the guilt beneath his skin. Even if it would all fall apart one day, Kaneki let himself cling to the investigator like a lifeline.

Summary
After Kaneki escaped the Anteiku Raid with an injured Hide, they decide to settle down in a small rural town. It's a chance to start over and live a peaceful life. Yet while peace is what Kaneki had craved of for so long, it no longer feels right. He isn't the same person he used to be, and without a mission, his past actions weigh on his shoulders. Yet when he hears of Kanou's latest human experiments, Hide and him can't stand by and do nothing. Maybe Kaneki can help someone find hope just as Anteiku did for him.
Amon is no longer human. Kanou had seen to that. It's obvious what he is now even if he doesn't want to accept it. When an eye patched ghoul and past co-worker rescue him, Amon finds he can no longer go back to the life he'd once lived. He isn't suited to the life of a ghoul or to one of peace, and as he learns the CCG is no longer an option, an empty hopelessness fills him instead of a sense of freedom. Who is he if not a ghoul investigator?

Summary
Amon would never forget the day he met Kaneki.
When Amon found Eyepatch's unconscious body outside of the Aogiri compound, he made the most idiotic decision in his life to take the ghoul home with him and finally ask the burning questions he'd never had the chance to say. He knew he should kill Eyepatch, yet he couldn't bring himself to do so or turn him in. It was a betrayal to the CCG and what he stood for, yet as he came to know Kaneki little by little, maybe it hadn't been the most idiotic decision of his life, but his best.
No matter what happened, Amon would never be able to regret his decision that night.

Summary
Haise followed Amon’s gaze as he slowly took him in. First his eyes and lips, then his hair, face again, a widening of Amon’s eyes as he saw Haise’s fake chest, then up to his lips again.
Amon was completely gone.
Or, Haise shows up as Sasako at Amon's apartment and has plans for the night. AU where Amon wasn't captured by Aogiri after the Anteiku raid and continued as a CCG investigator.

Summary
When Kaneki ran into the ghoul investigator who he'd fought in the rain, he hadn't expected to form a friendship with him. Despite the danger and hopelessness of convincing a man who'd made it his life's mission to eradicate ghouls, Kaneki couldn't help but enjoy Amon's company. He didn't deserve it and Amon would only see their friendship as a betrayal when he'd inevitably find out, but he still found himself looking forward to the mornings when Amon would chat with him while he'd make him a coffee.
Amon had never formed any sort of relationship outside of the CCG. His life revolved around ghouls, but when he met Kaneki, he found himself opening up. He didn't even particularly enjoy coffee, but it didn't take long for him to become a regular at the cafe Kaneki worked at. Something about Kaneki was more interesting than any ghoul, and while Amon couldn't put a name to the feeling, what he did know was that he couldn't get enough of Kaneki.
Unfortunately though, secrets never remained hidden for long.

Summary
When Amon finds the eyepatched ghoul deep in Kanou's lab, he knows he can't ignore the opportunity to get the answers he has been searching for his entire life.
Amon chases Kaneki after he bolts; in his crazed state, Kaneki causes them to get trapped in a small section of the tunnel, when he eventually comes back to himself, Amon is left with little reason to continue to feign hostility towards the ghoul—they inevitably get to talking, and Amon struggles to come to terms with the answers he gets.

Summary
If only Yuuta could see him now. Whenever Yuuta comes to take his revenge, it's glorious. Toge could never get tired of this feeling. The two of them locked in this battle for eternity, doomed to torment and fight and hate each other.
Toge's been told countless times that he's lost his mind. From an outsider perspective, he can't really blame them. Anyone would think that this kind of life is far too brutal to endure for an eon.
But for Toge himself?
He loves it.
He's addicted to it.
Already, he's trying to come up with new plans. What else can he do to piss Yuuta off? What would truly invoke that dark fury that threatened to consume Toge inside out? How else can he bring out Yuuta's sadistic side?
Just thinking of the possibilities makes him overjoyed.

Amon follows Kaneki after their encounter during the Owl Suppression Operation down into the sewers. They do not reach V14, but instead have a brief battle that leads to their section collapsing on top of them—leaving a starved, desperate Kaneki as their only chance for survival.
