“...I don't understand what purpose this serves,” He sounds just as frustrated as he does completely resigned to his fate. Angel snorts, and presses a finger to his own lips.
“Shh,” He commands, “Doesn't matter. You don't gotta.”
Alastor wrinkles his nose, “I do not need to be mothered.”
“I ain't motherin’ ya.”
“Then what do you call all of this unnecessary fussing?”
“It ain't fussin’, neither,” Angel is now whisper-shouting, but he quiets his tone with a sigh, definitely not wanting to really get into the details, “Been there, done that, okay? If you don't gotta deal with all this shit totally by yourself, I ain't gonna be the one to let'cha.”

Summary
Anthony wants nothing more than to have his ‘homosexual’ tendencies and propensity for drugs to be taken away from him. One strung-out night, he reaches out and prays, using a book in Latin to ask God to rid him of these damned desires.
God does not answer.
A demon named Alastor hears out his plea instead. Said demon agrees to help him avoid sex with men and taking drugs, so long as Anthony keeps the book in his possession until he dies. Anthony, thinking it was all a hallucination, agrees. When he realizes what he’s done, he’s reluctant to work with the demon. But Alastor is obligated to try to help him anyway, and, over time, becomes someone Anthony can rely on as his work gets harder and more and more is asked of him by his mafia boss father.
And as the asks from Pa get more serious, Anthony’s increasingly unsure if his desire to go to Heaven when it’s all said and done will be fulfilled. At least if he does go to Hell, he’ll know one person down there.
